Who We Are
Siblings Australia is a unique national organisation promoting better support for siblings of children and adults with disability.
We recognise that siblings are often overlooked, which can lead to feelings of isolation. If this is not addressed, children (and later, adults) become vulnerable to a range of emotional and mental health problems. However, if siblings are acknowledged and connected to support, the sibling and in turn their family are likely to experience better outcomes.
Our Vision
Siblings: acknowledged, connected, resilient
What We Do
Here at Siblings Australia, the work we do falls into five broad categories:
- Providing direct support to siblings
- Offering education and support, empowering parents to support their children
- Working with service providers within the health, education and disability sectors to assist them in providing more informed support to siblings
- Undertaking advocacy for greater recognition of siblings in government policy and the community.
- Promoting and carrying out research on issues relating to siblings and their families
