We make sure you can unleash the transformative force
you are – to thrive better together.
To focus a little on you creates exceptional value. A strong support fabric for siblings and your families shows in wellbeing, happiness, and progress. It benefits our community too, saving massively on avoidable cost.
We know from experience that you are often overlooked, which can lead to feelings of isolation. If this is not addressed, you – as children, and later as adults – can become vulnerable to emotional and mental health challenges. By recognising you, the siblings, and connecting you to support, both you and your family are more likely to experience positive outcomes.
Let’s work together.
Together with you, governments, and many amazing partners. It’s what amplifies the positive impact
And while we work robustly and evidence-based, our programs are engaging and human-centred. This approach has seen us and our programs recognised as world-leading.
Getting there wasn’t easy, but nothing compares to the challenges you overcome. Over the last 25+ years we’ve built a rock-solid global success story – one that other leaders in their fields choose to partner with.
We’ve only just got started.
We have big plans, and we look forward to seeing all families with people with disabilities – and our community – reap the full rewards from our groundbreaking work. Systemic change through siblings that’s worth pouring all our passion into.
Dr Shannon Schedlich Chief Executive
Our patron, Her Excellency, the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, took a moment to reflect on the importance of the work we do, her role as Patron – and the incredible community that makes it all possible.
This heartfelt message is a reminder of the impact we can have when we come together with purpose, passion and care.
Our Vision:
Siblings: acknowledged, connected, resilient
What We Do
Here at Siblings Australia, the work we do falls into five
broad categories:
- Providing direct support to siblings
- Offering education and support, empowering parents to support their children
- Working with service providers within the health, education and disability sectors to assist them in providing more informed support to siblings
- Undertaking advocacy for greater recognition of siblings in government policy and the community.
- Promoting and carrying out research on issues relating to siblings and their families
