One-on-One Support
We understand that every family’s situation, priorities and challenges are different. That’s why we offer one-on-one support sessions, where Siblings Australia staff with lived experience will provide you with strategies tailored to your individual circumstances.
Our one-on-one support sessions are available to both parents and adult siblings. You can read more below about what they involve below, or contact us to schedule your session.

One-on-One for Parents
Do you want to know how to better support the siblings of your child with a disability?
Brothers and sisters can be the most important people in the life of your child with disability as they both age and building their resilience and relationships in a healthy way is so important to all
families.
These informative and supportive one-on-one sessions, with Siblings Australia founder and CEO Kate Strohm, will help you to better understand the experience of siblings and give you some tools to support them. Each session will be tailored to your family’s individual needs.
Depending on your location these sessions can be delivered either in person or online.
Following the session, you will be provided with a personalised report that includes strategies to support your sibling child.
The majority of parents who access this session say they feel more confident in their parenting of all
their children:
“Thank you for acknowledging and supporting parents with sibs.” – Emily, parent of 2
“Practical suggestions for daily parenting and recommendations of where to find support” – Ifa, parent of 3
Dependent on your circumstances, the cost of your session may be reimbursable via the NDIS.
To book your session please email info@siblingsaustralia.org.au.
For Parents

One-On-One for Siblings
As an adult sibling, do you feel that no-one understands your experience?
Do you worry about the future and what your role might be as a sibling?
Meeting one on one with a trained facilitator who also has lived experience as a sibling of a person with a disability, you will have the opportunity to talk about your experience of being a sibling and work through some strategies to assist you.
Adult siblings will be provided with a follow up report including useful strategies.
Feedback from our one-on-one sessions indicate that many siblings find them validating and empowering:
‘I liked being able to speak so openly about what its been like living with a brother with a disability and being able to be honest and not judged for it.’ – Alex, age 22
‘I enjoyed being listened to by someone with first-hand knowledge, knowing this service exists. I liked that there were some set questions but also the freedom to mention things as they came to mind.’ – Holly, age 26
Dependent on your circumstances, the cost of your session may be reimbursable via the NDIS. Please contact us to discuss your options.
