We understand that every sibling’s situation, priorities and challenges are different. We also know the importance of mental health and wellbeing, which is why we are excited to introduce our new SibSupport service. This new initiative provides professional counselling services to help individuals and families navigate challenges that they may be facing. Disability/chronic illness can impact the whole family and getting the right support is important.

Key features of our new SibSupport service include:

  • Individual counselling sessions tailored to your specific needs and goals
  • Group counselling sessions for families to facilitate shared support and learning.
  • Workshops and seminars on various topics related to mental health and self-care
  • Flexibility of online or face-to-face sessions, with in-person sessions facilitated across two locations.

SibSupport is available to child, adolescent or adult siblings and also extends to facilitate family counselling. Sessions are facilitated by Siblings Australia staffer, Rachel Bailey, a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). Rachel brings a wealth of experience in psychodynamic and humanistic counselling, having operated her private practice for 10 years. Her passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges and achieve personal growth is a testament to her client-centred approach, working collaboratively and using therapeutic techniques most suited to their needs.

One-off support sessions for adult siblings or parents can also be facilitated by Siblings Australia Founder, Kate Strohm, who holds a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and has lived experience of being a sibling. To book a session with Kate, please reach out.
